With summer here I am constantly on the look out for fun things to do with my kids, to keep everyone busy and having a great time. Taking a small drive ( Or even a longer one) is worth the look on their faces when you know that they are having a good time. Recently I was told about 2Toots Train Whistle Grill, 2Toots is the only train themed restaurant in the Chicagoland area that has all of the seating on the tracks with your meals delivered by multiple scale trains. What a fun concept, I had heard of places like this but never took the kids to one. Recently 2Toots introduces dishes with meat sourced from Tallgrass Beef Company (founded by Bill Kurtis, Local news figure for CBS 2). The health-conscious beef is grass fed ,all natural, preservative, and hormone free. Which is better all around for you, and your children!!
When we walked into the restaurant the first thing you notice, of course are the trains. But there is also a fantastic 50′s theme to this diner complete with fountain machines, Shake mixers, wall decor and fantastic music!! We were greeted right away by a very friendly worker, seated in a comfy booth and given our menus.
There are so many things to chose , and all of the choices looked so good!! But hearing about the Tallgrass Beef I just had to taste for myself and see if there was anything different about it. The kids menu is perfect with Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Dinosaur Chicken nuggets and more!! We ordered our drinks and our food, the boys ( Matt and his BFF) had to have Rootbeer Floats and McKenna and I shared an Oreo shake!!
Wow the drinks we got were delicious!!! The boys couldn’t dig into their Rootbeer floats fast enough and My Oreo shake was divine!! Thinking about it I would like one right now. It wasn’t long until our food arrived via Train ( which was so cool). The train stopped at it’s destination… our table, and our food was passed out to us promptly.
I loved that McKenna’s kids meal came with carrots also and she dove into the crispy perfectly cooked chicken nuggets and ate like she never had before. The answer to the question you are all probably asking yourself… The Burger was AMAZING!!! Could I tell a difference… For sure!! It was so so good, I only wish that they were closer or that every place could have a burger as good!! Cooked perfectly and everything I loved to top it with right there waiting. Wow! When we had finished our delicious food our friendly server came and took away the empties, and asked if we would like some of the fantastic dessert that they have to offer…. well of course we would!!!
All of their desserts are topped with a classic train whistle that can be seen sported by all of the kiddos in the place. As the trains passed with cupcakes on them while we waited Kenna tried to grab a few for herself to eat!! Dessert was the perfect ending to a tasty and fun lunch!!! If you are looking for a fun kid friendly place with great food or are ever near their Bartlett or Glen Ellyn locations you need to stop. We will be returning soon!!!
