By now you have all heard me rave about Wreck it Ralph at least 100 times, and if you haven’t you need to read up!! Wreck it Ralph comes smashing into theaters this Friday November 2nd and is sure to be a favorite of everyone in the family! While at the Press Day event in Los Angeles for Wreck it Ralph we had the opportunity to do experience a multitude of amazing things, but sitting down and talking 2 of the main people that made this movie come to life was truly a highlight. Something about picking the brains of these 2 and finding out the in’s and outs of how it became the fantastic movie it is brings this movie a little closer to my heart.
Sitting down with Rich Moore and Clark Spencer was so much more then I could ever express , it was great to see how down to earth and fun these two could be… But I guess you would have to be to create such terrific movies.
Asking a variety of questions was a given but finding out the real answers and some of the fun they had was fantastic. I was able to find out that Wreck It Ralph was almost 4 years in the making. Director Rich Moore told us that it was something that they had toyed around with and kept getting put on the back burner for another time, they kept shooting around ideas until the right one came along.
They both talked about making sure the authenticity of the video games were there, which if not taken through the proper channels can be a legal nightmare. The decided that going to E3 ( a gaming convention) and pitching their idea was the best course of action. When they pitched the idea to the other companies they were happy to see the enthusiasm of the companies. In fact they worked hand and hand in the creative process which helps to bring true life to the characters.
We chatted about the different characters and their roles in the film, the creative process to the casting and how it effects the animation and ultimately the whole movie ( Did you know that Jane Lynch’s character Sargent Calhoun was originally supposed to be a man)
The both very much wanted to touch on the different aspects of gaming from when it really first began to the present day games, adding different worlds and characters from both. They really hit a home run with what they had created from the very realistic world of Heroes Duty to the vibrant and whimsical world of sugar rush. Of course there is a variety of other topics we touched in this interview as well as talked about some of our favorite movies they created in the past.
When our time was up we all left feeling a little more nostalgic about the movie and knowing why it is the fun loving movie your sure to enjoy!!
Make sure you check out Wreck it Ralph when it drives its way into the hearts of everyone on November 2nd!!

Hi.. We met you last night at the Icon Roosevelt theater
Have a great day !
In Chicago we were outside in line.
My Name Is Lilly..
I just want to tell you we never got In to the Early Screening
of Wreck It Ralph.. So many families like mine who waited like
3 hours in the cold were turned away..The theater was so disorganized
and lots of kids In tears..was a very upsetting experience and I wouldn’t
attend another one like It.. I had to speak my mind on this..
That theater needs to learn how to handle special screenings in a
organized way..
Well was very nice to meet you..
Truly Lillian
